Collaboration with Rick Pushinsky, photo-sculptures, office supplies and stationary, 2024.
These works appeared in the book Wasters, published by Chateau International in 2024.
Me and Rick spent two days in a makeshift photography studio in the winter of 2023/2024 making and photographing small sculptures from stationary and office supplies. Rick chose the best photos, then ran them through a photocopier dozens of times to produce these distorted and stratified images. For Rick, they are part of the larger Wasters project which was a photography book dealing with themes of 21st century office life. For me, these are also stand alone works that ask and answer questions about what happens when sculptures are haphazardly constructed moments rather than lasting monuments. We spoke about these as absurdly exaggerated versions of little arrangements you might make when bored at your desk. Sculptures made by fiddling, keeping yourself distracted, avoiding work, or wasting time.
